The services are provided by Buy A Star, operating the symbolic star registry platform available at our official website and related subdomains.

Buy A Star provides a commercial digital service consisting of a symbolic, commemorative entry in our proprietary database. Each registration may include a personalized name, dedication, registration code (e.g., ST-XXXXXX), symbolic coordinates for display purposes, a downloadable PDF certificate, and an optional public web page.

YOU ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT THE SERVICE IS ENTIRELY SYMBOLIC AND COMMEMORATIVE. IT DOES NOT CONFER, TRANSFER, OR IMPLY ANY LEGAL OWNERSHIP, NAMING RIGHTS, PROPERTY INTEREST, OR ASTRONOMICAL AUTHORITY OVER ANY REAL STAR, CELESTIAL BODY, OR PORTION OF OUTER SPACE.

No private entity — including Buy A Star — can sell or assign real astronomical designations recognized by the International Astronomical Union (IAU) or any government authority. Coordinates shown are generated or assigned for illustrative and emotional purposes within our platform and must not be relied upon for navigation, scientific research, or legal title.

Our certificates, maps, and marketing materials are keepsakes and digital gifts. They are not official government documents, deeds, or scientific records.

You must be at least 18 years old — or the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction — to purchase a registration. If you are under the age of majority, you may use the service only with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.

By using the service, you represent that you have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract and that all information you provide is accurate and complete.

To create a symbolic star registration, you complete the checkout form with the required fields (star name, dedication, occasion, dates, email, and other requested information), accept these Terms, and pay the displayed price through an approved payment method.

Upon successful payment confirmation, we process your registration and deliver digital assets (certificate PDF, registration code, and access to the public page where applicable) to the email address you provide. Delivery is typically immediate but may take longer due to technical, payment, or verification reasons.

You are responsible for providing a valid email address and for safeguarding your registration code. We are not liable for non-delivery caused by incorrect contact details, spam filters, or third-party email failures beyond our reasonable control.

Prices are displayed in United States dollars (USD) unless otherwise stated at checkout. The price shown at the time of purchase is the price you agree to pay. We may change prices for future purchases at any time without affecting completed transactions.

Payments are processed by independent third-party payment providers (such as PayPal or Stripe). We do not store full payment card numbers on our servers. Your use of payment services is subject to the provider's own terms and privacy policies.

You represent that you are authorized to use the selected payment method. We may refuse, cancel, or reverse transactions suspected of fraud, chargeback abuse, or violation of these Terms.

Where applicable by law, you are responsible for any taxes, duties, or levies associated with your purchase. We may collect or remit taxes when required.

Because our product is digital content supplied immediately after payment, you expressly request and consent to immediate performance of the service once payment is authorized.

If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, or another jurisdiction granting a statutory cooling-off period for distance contracts, you acknowledge that by requesting immediate delivery of the digital registration and certificate, you lose your right of withdrawal once delivery of the digital content has begun, to the extent permitted by applicable law.

Refunds are generally not available once digital delivery has been completed, except where: (a) required by mandatory consumer protection law in your country; (b) we failed to deliver the purchased registration due to a fault on our side; or (c) we approve a refund at our sole discretion (e.g., duplicate charge or proven technical failure).

Chargebacks filed without contacting us first may result in suspension of the registration and recovery of associated costs where permitted by law.

You are solely responsible for the star name, dedication, recipient details, and any other content you submit ("User Content"). You represent that you have all necessary rights to submit such content and that it does not infringe third-party rights.

You must not submit content that is unlawful, defamatory, harassing, hateful, sexually exploitative, fraudulent, impersonating others, or that promotes violence or illegal activity. We may refuse, edit, remove, or disable public display of any registration that violates these rules or applicable law, without refund where permitted.

By submitting User Content, you grant Buy A Star a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to store, reproduce, display, and distribute such content solely to operate, deliver, and promote the service (including on public star pages you enable).

Unless otherwise indicated at checkout or in product settings, registrations may be displayed on a publicly accessible page indexed by search engines. Public pages may show the star name, dedication, occasion, symbolic coordinates, and registration date.

Do not include sensitive personal data (government IDs, financial data, health information, passwords) in dedications or star names. You assume all risk arising from information you choose to make public.

We may offer privacy controls in the future; until then, treat all submitted dedications as potentially public.

The platform, brand, logo, design, software, map visualizations, certificate templates, and all related materials are owned by Buy A Star or its licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license to use delivered digital assets for personal, non-commercial purposes, no rights are transferred to you.

You may not copy, modify, reverse engineer, scrape, resell, or create derivative works of the platform or its content without our prior written consent.

Trademarks and trade names of third parties (including PayPal and Stripe) belong to their respective owners.

Our service relies on third-party infrastructure and providers (hosting, databases, email delivery, analytics, payment processing). We are not responsible for outages, errors, or acts of third parties, but we will use commercially reasonable efforts to maintain service availability.

Links to external sites are provided for convenience only. We do not endorse and are not liable for third-party content or practices.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED, OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, that defects will be corrected, or that the service meets your emotional, aesthetic, or gift-giving expectations.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits warranties or liability that cannot be excluded or limited under mandatory consumer protection law in your jurisdiction.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, Buy A Star AND ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AFFILIATES, AND SUPPLIERS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR EMOTIONAL DISTRESS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE OR THESE TERMS.

OUR TOTAL AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO A REGISTRATION SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THAT REGISTRATION IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, OR ONE HUNDRED UNITED STATES DOLLARS (USD $100), WHICHEVER IS GREATER, EXCEPT WHERE PROHIBITED BY LAW.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the fullest extent permitted.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Buy A Star and its personnel from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from: (a) your User Content; (b) your misuse of the service; (c) your violation of these Terms or applicable law; or (d) your misrepresentation regarding the symbolic nature of the service to third parties.

We may suspend or terminate access to the service, remove registrations, or refuse future purchases if we reasonably believe you violated these Terms, engaged in fraud, or harmed other users or our brand.

Upon termination for cause, no refund is owed except as required by mandatory law. Provisions that by nature should survive (disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, governing law) will survive termination.

These Terms are governed by the laws of State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where mandatory consumer protection rules of your country of residence require otherwise.

If you are a consumer in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, you may also benefit from mandatory protections of your habitual residence and may bring proceedings in your local courts where such rights cannot be waived.

Before initiating formal proceedings, the parties agree to attempt good-faith resolution by contacting legal@buyastar.space. If unresolved within thirty (30) days, disputes may be submitted to the competent courts of State of Delaware, United States, unless mandatory law grants you the right to use another forum.

Where permitted by law and not prohibited by mandatory consumer rules, you agree that any dispute will be brought on an individual basis and not as a class, collective, or representative action.

We may update these Terms to reflect legal, technical, or business changes. The effective date at the top will be revised. Material changes will be posted on this page; continued use after changes constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.

For material changes affecting existing registrations, we will provide notice when reasonably practicable.

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and checkout disclosures, constitute the entire agreement regarding the service and supersede prior understandings on the same subject.

If any provision is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver.

You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets.

We are not liable for delay or failure due to events beyond our reasonable control (force majeure), including natural disasters, war, labor disputes, internet failures, or government actions.
